What are Garbage Pail Kids? Garbage Pail Kids are non-sports stickers made in the US between 1985 and 1988 by Topps. GPK is often used instead.
Garbage Pail Kids were made to make fun of the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls that were popular in the 80's.
Who drew the pictures for the Garbage Pail Kids? Jay Lynch, Mark Newgarden, John Pound, and Art Spiegelman. John Pound created the majority of the drawings.
How many Garbage Pail Kids series were there? There were 15 US Garbage Pail Kids regular series released. There was a 16th series made, but it was never released.
There were also two 5" x 7" series made. One 5" x 7" series was called "Giant Stickers," and the other was called "1st Series
Kids."
Were there other Garbage Pail Kids items sold? Some of the additional items include: folders, mugs, various types of posters, watches, Hi-Bounce Balls, Puffy Stickers,
sunglasses, jewelry sets, notebooks, Tacky Snappers, etc.
What is a print run? A print run is the printing of an entire batch of cards for a series. Each print run may have certain variations.
Sometimes printing errors were corrected in subsequent print runs, so there are variations that are only in certain print
runs. Each US Garbage Pail Kids series typically had 2 or 3 print runs.
What is a Variation? A variation is a card that contains two or more different backs that are constant in each print run. These cards
are not very hard to obtain because they are found in every box. ie: 2nd series 42a & 42b with "sneak award" and "spaz
award" backs are found in all three print runs.
What is a "change"? A "change" is a card that contains a changed front or back that is different in each print run. These cards are harder
to obtain. They are found in seperate boxes and in different print runs. ie: The name change of 49b "schizo Fran" can be found
in the first and second print run boxes, however, 49b "Fran Fran" can only be found in the third print run box.
